Hello, Mr. Conner here. I'd like to welcome your son/daughter to my class/es, a short description of each you'll find below.

 1. U.S. History/Geography, 8th Grade:  Students in grade 8 begin with a study of U.S. Geography, covering: states and capitals, major cities, rivers, mtn. peaks and ranges, and significant landforms. We then move on to  study the ideas, issues, and events leading up to the American Revolution. Next, we discuss the Articles of Confederation, leading up to the framing of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We will end the year at WW1, with an emphasis on America's involvement in the war.

2. Character Education: This class, composed of both 7th and 8th grade students, is based on the books of Sean Covey. ( The son of Steven Covey, author of the well-known book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People ) The two books used as resources are: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens, and The Six Most Important Decisions You'll Ever Make . The books cover a plethora of topics appropriate and necessary for teens. ( and adults ! ) The benefits of disciplines, relationships, goal-setting, listening,  time and money management, including guest speakers. ( I've already lined up the Branch Manager of Altura Credit Union to come in and speak to the students about finances, credit cards, and budgets) Idea: Get the book &read/discuss with your child !
